Thinking we wanted some relaxation after Myanmar we touched down in Bangkok and the sensation overload begun. Thailand is an assault on the senses, a overhyped tourist mecca. We felt overwhelmed and a little lost in Bangkok and wanted to escape to somewhere quiet so booked our train ticket to Ban Saphan Yai.

Ban Saphan Yai was the perfect place, lost in time, it was underdeveloped, cheap and nothing to do but nothing on the beach. Taking the opportunity of being in Thailand we headed by local overnight fishing boat to Koh Tao so Tim could complete his open water and advanced diving course. Besides Tim diving we really didn’t do anything in Koh Tao, it was nice and relaxing but we where glad to leave slightly ruined paradise.
